YouTube and adblockers have been at war for years, andYouTube has tried to block adblockersin the past, but without much success.

However, it seems that the company is changing its policy and it’s going after the apps that violate its terms of service.

YouTube is planning to go after apps that bypass ads

It is no secret that many users are using third-party tools to avoid ads on YouTube, but that might change in the future asPCMag writes.

According to arecent YouTube memo, Google states that they are strengthening its stance on third-party apps that violate terms of service.

Users that continue using these tools may experience buffering issues or errors such as The following content is not available on this app.

We already saw this not that long ago, as theUBlock Origin developer reported slowdowns on YouTube while using adblocker.

It is also stated that third-party apps are allowed to use YouTube API only while following API terms of services. The apps that violate these terms will face a response from YouTube.

Even though YouTube is determined to go after apps and tools that allow users to skip ads, Chrome keeps promoting YouTube ad-block extensions in its store.

While we don’t know why is that, we assume that Google will address that soon. As previously mentioned, this action from YouTube isn’t new, andAdBlock users had issues on YouTubefor some time.
