Those who use Microsoft’s Start and Bing apps to access the Cashback Program receipt scanning feature, we have some bad news for you: the Redmond-based tech giant announced that it is shutting down the receipt scanning function, which enables users to get cash back from their bought items
According to the latest reports, the deprecation is scheduled for July 25, 2024. Some people may wonder why this feature was stopped. Even though Microsoft has not given a precise reason, it is not difficult to guess that the characteristics may not have become as popular as they had anticipated.
Thank you for using the receipt scan offers as part of the Microsoft Cashback Program. Due to recent changes, the receipt scan feature will no longer be available as of July 25th 2024, and you will no longer be able to earn cash back by scanning receipts through Microsoft applications.
When we consider it, the Start and Bing apps are not usually the first ones that people open on their phones. This is disappointing, especially since the feature was launched with a big claim: “Earn cash back on every purchase, no exceptions.” This meant you could get bonus money from places like Walgreens, Walmart, and Target for items like eggs, fruit, and milk.
But it’s not all bad news. The Microsoft Cashback Program is not completely disappearing. You can still enjoy its benefits if you likeearning additional money from your online shoppingby using Microsoft Bing and Edge and participating online sellers. Microsoft appears to be emphasizing “shopping anywhere” via its platforms.
What’s next for those who enjoy earning money by taking pictures of their receipts? Many other apps, like Fetch and Swagbucks, provide the same benefits. And if you are devoted to Microsoft, the Cashback program via Bing and Edge is still a possible choice—yet more digital.
