Twitter, or X, is one of the most used social networks, however, many users reported that they can’t access it in Firefox.

This is a big problem for Firefox users, so today we’ll take a closer look and see what’s the root cause of this issue.

Firefox users can’t access X anymore due to Enhanced Tracking Protection

Firefox users can’t access X anymore due to Enhanced Tracking Protection

This news comes fromCybernews, and according to them, Firefox users aren’t able to access Twitter anymore. When trying to access it, users will be greeted with the following message:

Firefox’s Enhanced Tracking Protection (Strict Mode) is known to cause issues on X.com.

As a workaround, users are advised to temporarily disable Enhanced Tracking protection for Twitter if they want to continue using it.

If you’re not familiar with this feature, it blocks scripts such as social media trackers, tracking cookies, and other content that some websites might use.

So what’s the reason behind this? Developers assume it’s because X has dropped the Twitter domain, but it still uses resources from it, thus triggering Enhanced Tracking Protection.

They have just changed their domain to X(dot)com, and probably referring some resources from older twitter domain. Hence the strict tracking protection fails on Firefox

Firefox support stated that they are working on this issue, and at the time of writing, Twitter seems to be working with Strict Mode enabled in Enhanced Tracking Protection.

Speaking of Firefox,Firefox 126 was released bringing copying links without site tracking. As for future updates,Firefox 127 will bring improved management for duplicated tabs, and we should see it available early next month.
