Are you familiar with the situation where your laptop still seems to lack a personal touch, no matter how many stickers or skins you put on it? The Project Dali concept by ASUS is very close to making this dream come true. Just think about being able to modify the design on your laptop’s lid whenever you desire and using only colored paper to do so.

But this paper is not ordinary. It’s an e-paper that ASUS has smartly incorporated into the top of their concept laptop. This allows you to have lively colors and patterns on your cover, which can be changed frequently.

The main feature of this innovation is a 12-inch e-ink screen, which has a resolution of 1600 x 1200. It’s not only about appearance; this e-paper can show six colors and more shades created by mixing them.

This function changes everything for people who enjoy personalizing their gadgets. But you should know that screen refreshing usually takes 10 to 12 seconds, which is unsuitable for dynamic content such as videos. However, it works great for still images, asshown below.

The question that may arise is, “How does it happen?” The answer to this is quite simple. ASUS has made software that allows you to select designs or use pictures.

The pace was a little sluggish, and one can observe a flickering effect when the picture refreshes, but you end up with your special laptop cover that draws attention.

The catch is that ASUS has not yet moved Project Dali beyond the concept stage. Although ASUS presented a refined model, they have not made any promises to introduce this technology into the market. They are still investigating whether it can be included in their ROG series, which is popular for being strong and powerful. But they should integrate withtheir new Copilot+ PCs, as well.
