Even though Microsoft is thinking about blisteringWindows 11’s Start menu with ads, it seems that the Redmond-based tech giant will also add some useful new pieces of information to the operating system.
We’re talking about Windows 11 displaying the date of the latest backup, as spotted by Windows enthusiast,Albacore. It will happen on the Settings page, where this date will be displayed at the top of the page, making it easier for users to keep track of their backup files and initiate backup plans.
A nice quality of life improvement coming to Windows 11’s Settings app?The date of the latest Windows backup will now be displayed on the top of the pageHidden behind experiment SSLBT (ID: 48126226) in build 26200.5001pic.twitter.com/YV0eump2MG
According to the spotter, the new information is currently hidden in the Windows Insider channels, but it can be uncovered by using a special command (ID: 48126226) within a third-party app, such as ViveTool, that enables hidden Windows features.
As it is hidden, Microsoft didn’t intend to release it just now, so the company might officially announce it in the next weeks. This also means that the new addition to Windows 11 might not be the final version, so the information that will released officially might be different.
Either way, it’s quite a useful feature, especially for those Windows users who like to keep track of their files and develop backup plans for them, as this new information is a reminder that new backup plans must be implemented, such as updates, or similar actions.
As you can see below, the information is right at the top of the top of the page, under the device’s name, which is also useful, as it can easily be noticed by Windows users.
In other news, the Windows 11 taskbar will be updated to supporta new mute buttonfor the Microsoft Edge media controls menu. The new button will allow users to easily manage dozens of tabs in Microsoft Edge without having to close them. The update should also be released to Windows with the next Edge update.
