On Friday, Microsoft releasedthe KB5037002 patchwhich brought fixes to some of the most annoying Windows 11 bugs, but along with them, the Redmond-based tech giant also slipped in some hidden feautures.
One of them allows you to accesslocal Windows folders directly from the Windows 11 Start Menu, and while the feature itself might be useful, it might also provide a really long scrolling experience, so we’re curious to see just how it will be released, eventually.
The other one is even more useful. We’re talking about a capability that allows you to duplicate File Explorer tabs for easier file management.
According to Windows Insider,@PhantomOfEarth, you can easily duplicate File Explorer tabs in Windows 11, byright-clickingon a tab, andselectingthe newDuplicate tabbutton, as you can see in the image below.
For now, the feature is hidden meaning the Redmond-based tech giant has not intended to reveal it just yet, and it might be released differently, but if you’re currently enlisted in the Beta Channel within the Windows Insider Program, you can enable it with a third-app such as ViveTool, by using this command:
vivetool /enable /id:45262221
If you don’t know how to use ViveTool to enable hidden Windows 11 features, but you’re interested, we havea comprehensive guideon how to do it.
However, if you’re not a tech savvy then it might be best to skip this one out. Either way, being able to duplicate File Explorer tabs in Windows 11 might actually be one of the most useful tricks on the operating system.
It will allow users to quickly manage files across the same (but also different) Windows 11 folders, and together with the drag&drop capability, this might become the new CTRL C/CTRL V combo.
What do you think about it?
