Windows 10 21H2 Enterprise & Education editions will reach end of support in June

Windows 10 is a great operating system, however, Microsoft is determined to retire it in favor of Windows 11.

Speaking of retirement, Windows 10 21H2 Enterprise and Education versions have almost reached the end of support, so here’s what that means.

Windows 10 21H2 end of support is coming early next month

Next month, the Windows 10 21H2 version is scheduled to reach the end of servicing asBetaNews reports. This includes the following editions: Enterprise, Education, and IoT.

This isn’t anything new, and we already wrote thatMicrosoft plans to Windows 10 21H2 Education and Enterprise editions.

As for extended support, only Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC will get it, and it will last until January 12, 2027.

According to Microsoft, the end of support is coming on June 11, so here’s what will happen:

On June 11, 2024, Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise editions of Windows 10, version 21H2 will reach end of servicing. The upcoming June 2024 security update, to be released on June 11, 2024, will be the last update available for this version. After this date, devices running this version will no longer receive monthly security and preview updates containing protections from the latest security threats.

While version 21H2 won’t receive updates, non-managed systems will be automatically updated to Windows 10 version 22H2.

As for the managed systems, they will have to manually update or switch to Windows 11. Unfortunately, even after installing the 22H2 update, the end of Windows 10 support is coming in October 2025.

If you wish to continue using Windows 10, you’ll need to join the ESU program but be warned thatWindows 10 ESU prices will double every year.

Speaking of which, it seems thatMicrosoft is prioritizing commercial organizations for ESU, so home users should consider upgrading to Windows 11.
