In this digitally connected world, communication is key. With the rising demand for remote work, seamless cross-platform collaboration has become more important.

To address this concern, Google and Mio collaborated, making cross-platform chat interoperability possible between Google Chat, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Webex, and Zoom.

This means you can now stay on Google Chat and send messages to your cross-platform peers and friends in direct messages, spaces, and group chats.

You can also use features like editing or deleting messages and sending GIFs, emojis, and reactions. You can also share files securely and use threaded messages across platforms.

In a blog post, Ilya Brown, Vice President of Product Management for Google Workspace, said:

Together with Mio, we can extend the reach of Google Chat and empower users to collaborate seamlessly across different platforms.

This integration is a significant milestone in the quest forCollaboration Nirvana, where users can communicate seamlessly, regardless of the chat app they use.

The significance of unified communication cannot be overemphasized. Various studies have shown that companies using interoperable technology experience six times higher revenue growth.

Earlier, chat communications were limited in terms of interoperability; however, now, with Mio’s groundbreaking solution, you will be able to communicate with colleagues on various platforms right from Google Chat

Google first announced this functionality in August 2023 at the Cloud Next 2023 event. Previously, Google Chat’s interoperability was limited to Slack and Teams users, but it is now available to all users. However, there is a catch to connecting Google Workspace with Slack or Teams; you need a Mio license.

This means organizations need to install the Mio app onto their chat platforms to enable cross-platform communications.

We understand installing additional tools like Mio could be slightly inconvenient, but we can’t deny the benefits, like easy communication across various platforms, which can revolutionize the way we stay connected with our teams.
