Apparently, the latest Windows 11 beta build 22635.3495, released today, is also reportedly causing Copilot to automatically start on Windows which is unacceptable as its beta channel is considered quite stable for users, even though it’s an insider build.
What happened:
Back in January, Microsoft tested a new experience on devices with a widescreen monitor, requiring a minimum diagonal screen size of 27” and a pixel width of 1920 pixels, limited to primary display screens, to open Copilot automatically when Windows starts for some Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. This can be controlled viaSettings>Personalization>Copilot.
Microsoft stopped the rollout in January and resumed it in February for Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev channels.
Now, with the recent build 26100 released to Windows Insiders in the Dev and Canary channels, some users reported thatCopilot auto-launched with Windows 11,which Microsoft acknowledged as abugand confirmed they stopped rolling out the experience in March itself.
Adding to this,Windows 11 beta build 22635.3495released today seems also to be affected by this. PhantomOcean, a Windows Enthusiast who shares hidden Windows 11 features, said the same on ‘x’ asking Microsoft to add a known issue in a beta blog post, stating the Copilot auto-launch rollout hasn’t been announced for the beta.
I think this should be added as a known issue to the Beta 22635.3495 blog post as well? This started happening after the update and iirc, no rollout of Copilot auto-launch ever happened for Beta.
When Microsoft’s Brandon was asked whether the issue was seen in beta, Phantom confirmed it.
Yeah, this is with the new undockable experience.
Microsoft has yet to acknowledge this. As mentioned above, the company has already confirmed the Copilot auto-launch on PCs as a bug when it comes to the Dev and Canary 26100 build released recently, but nothing has been said about Beta build 22635.349
