The 2017 eclipse from the U.S. was a record-breaking event and the one from 8 April 2024 (today!) has all the chances to surpass it. NASA will broadcast the event live, but now it has also teamed up with Twitch, Microsoft, and Epic for a first-time meta broadcast matching gaming with sighting the event.
The event is calledLook Up!and it will feature streamers playing eclipsed-themed games in Minecraft and Fortnite, as spotted byPCGamer.
If you do not like epic total eclipses, you might still enjoy the Minecraft and Fortnite special events. The Look Up! game mode from Minecraft will feature solar eclipse puzzles and questions to fill out missions and escape the moon to get to the Earth in time before the start of the eclipse.
When playing Fortnite, you will get some missions that are accessible by moving on the path of the eclipse that will traverse Mexico, the U.S. and Canada. All this gaming event will be streamed alongside NASA’s live footage of the eclipse.
NASA hasposted all the detailsabout the April 8, 2024 solar eclipse including the areas that will benefit from the full spectacle of the totality. It’s a pretty narrow band on the map so check it out if you want to know whether to buy the special glasses or not. Actually, if you don’t have those, don’t Look up! because you risk permanent damage to your retina.
