Xbox users can finally subscribe to the new Game Pass mode, the Xbox Game Pass Standard, which is now generally available.
Xbox Game Pass Standard is currently priced at $14.99/month.In a blog post, Xbox says that users can access all the benefits of Game Pass Core and a library of hundreds of console games, including Halo, Minecraft, Forza Horizon 5 and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
However, cloud gaming, PC Game Pass, and EA Play perks are exclusive to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
If you’re wondering what’s in it for you with the Standard plan, then you should know it’s packed with hundreds of games, andXbox saysthey’re even adding more as we speak. If you’re part of the Xbox Insiders program and your Game Pass hasn’t stacked beyond two months, you’re in luck; you can join in and share your thoughts on this new tier.
If the $14.99 monthly fee for the Standard plan sounds a bit steep, you might want to check out the Xbox Game Pass Core. At $9.99 a month, it offers a selection of games, online multiplayer, and special member-only discounts. It’s a more budget-friendly option but with fewer games in the library.
Microsoft says that the launch of Game Pass Standard is part of its effort to offer a range of price points so players can select the Game Pass plan that best suits their gaming needs and budget.
We continue to be focused on delivering the best gaming experience at a range of price points so players can choose the plan with the features that best fits their gaming needs and budget.
It’s good that Microsoft gives gamers more choices with its subscription plans, but we have to wonder if they will stick around. The gaming industrymocked the planwhen it was first announced, with many calling it a degraded product. The Ultimate plan seems more in touch with new releases, but the focused offerings of the Standard or Core plans might find an audience.
What do you think? Will you try the Xbox Game Pass Standard, or are you holding out for something else?
