Microsoft is about to update the Teams Phone Mobile app with the exciting brand-new Call My Phone feature, which allows users to transfer their 1-to-1 calls between the app and their phones, while on that call, without any interruptions.

According to Teams enthusiast,Tom Arbuthnot, the Redmond-based tech giant will preview it in June 2024, followed by a general release in July, and it’s quite an exciting new capability.

Here’s why: currently, the Teams Phone Mobile app lets certain service providers give you one number for both your mobile phone and Teams Phone, and the new Call my Phone feature takes advantage of that to offer users a lag-free Teams call experience when entering regions with weak data signal.

Currently, you can switch a call from your mobile phone to the Teams app, by opening the app (on your phone or computer) and clicking the Move to Teams button.

But with the new Call my Phone button in the Teams app, which will be available to both Android and iOS devices, you can move a call to your mobile phone in the middle of the call without any interruptions.

This could be useful if you answered a call using the Teams app over Wi-Fi or mobile data, but you’re about to go to a place with a weak data signal.

However, it’s worth noting that this new feature will only work for calls between two people, not for group calls, as it taps into the user’s Audioconferencing service to connect the call to the user’s mobile phone.

Speaking of Microsoft Teams, the platform should let admins experienceunified app managementacross Teams, Outlook, and Microsoft 365, starting this month, allowing them to manage apps that work on Outlook, and the Microsoft 365 App directly from the platform.

Plus, starting next month, in June, the Teams mobile app will also alloweasier integration of SharePoint files, such as selecting and attaching files from SharePoint sites directly in Teams chats and conversations in the mobile app.
