ARM laptops are becoming rather popular due to their low power consumption, and solid performance.
Many are waiting for a new line of Snapdragon X Elite CPUs, and it seems that the first model was spotted.
Surface Laptop 6 with Snapdragon X Elite CPU was recently spotted
Recently we wrote aboutSurface Pro 10 with Snapdragon X Plusbut it seems that a model with Snapdragon X Elite CPU was spotted.
AsWindows Latest writesSurface Laptop 6 was spotted in benchmarks using Snapdragon X Elite an X1E80100 CPU.
According to benchmarks, the CPU has scored 14100 in multi-thread tests and around 2745 in single-core tests. This was achieved in “balanced” mode, and the results are expected to go higher in the performance mode.
The device is codenamed OEMBR OEMBR and listed as snapdragon 8cx gen 3 4012 MHz to prevent leaking of information.
The codename OEMBR usually stands for Surface Laptop with Qualcomm, so it was relatively simple for keen-eyed users to determine which model is this.
As for the testing, it has been performed on a 12-core Snapdragon X Elite chip, 16GB of RAM, NPU, and Windows 11 24H2.
How does the Snapdragon X Elite compare against other CPUs?
According to benchmarks, Snapdragon X Elite is superior to Intel Core Ultra 7-155h in every regard. It’s twice as fast in Visual Studio Code compilation and gets 6 frames more during 3D Mark GPU benchmarks.
During Geekbench 6 CPU tests Elite X achieved a 2774 score for single and 14027 for multiple cores, while Intel’s model achieved 2401 and 13001 respectively.
While Elite X outperforms Intel’s CPU, its benchmark scores are lower compared to MacBook Pros with M3 Pro chip.
Overall, the Surface Laptop 6 looks great according to these benchmarks, but we’re still waiting for the official announcement.
In case you need something with less power,Qualcomm has announced Snapdragon X Plus CPUs, and we should see the first laptops with these CPUs soon.
