Many users use emails for file sharing, and Microsoft plans to make this method faster than before.
The company is working on a new feature in Office that will make file sharing faster if you’re using email.
Outlook for Windows will be a share target in Office soon
Per theMicrosoft 365 roadmap, it seems that the company wants to improve sharing by adding Outlook for Windows as a share target.
By doing so, you can quickly and easily email the file. This is useful since you won’t have to open Outlook and then manually attach the file you want to share.
This feature is coming to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and it will work only with local files, and not files that are stored in the cloud.
Overall, this is a small quality-of-life improvement that will make sharing files via email faster than before.
The feature is in development, but the rollout should start in August, so stay tuned. As for other features,Copilot in Outlook will soon be able to rewrite parts of your email.
Outlook will also make meeting time suggestions optional, and expect to see this feature available next month.
