Taking center stage of Computex 2024, NVIDIAannouncedthat RTX AI laptops will soon include Copilot + PC experiences. At the keynote, NVIDIA briefly mentioned a total of six RTX AI laptops (five notebooks from ASUS and one from MSI) would be supercharged withCopilot Plus PCfeatures via an update down the line.
NVIDIA announces RTX-powered laptops will be supercharged by Copilot + PC features
Talking to The Verge, Nividia even confirmed that the saidlaptops will feature AMD’s latest Strix CPUs. It is worth noting that AMD hasn’t said a word about the Strix CPUs. However, it could do so in thekeynote scheduledon June 3rd, 9:30 AM Taipei Time (UCT+8).
In its recent blog post, NVIDIA hinted that the upcoming Copilot PCs powered by AMD Strix CPUs might not include AI features at launch. It addsthese Windows 11 AI PCs will receive a free update to Copilot+ PC experiences when available.
It is possible that Microsoft might delay the launch ofWindows Recalland other AI features it discussed at Build 2024 on AMD chips. While this could be the case, we can’t rule out the existence of an exclusivity period Microsoft might have for Qualcomm hardware set to launch on June 18.
It is worth mentioning that NVIDIA is also launching an RTX AI Toolkit in June which includes SDKs for customization, optimization, and deployment of AI models.
The GPU giant further says that it is partnering with Microsoft to help developers bring new generative AI capabilities to native and web apps for Windows.
This collaboration will provide application developers with easy application programming interface (API) access to GPU-accelerated small language models (SLMs) that enable retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) capabilities that run on-device as part of Windows Copilot Runtime.
NVIDIA also showed off Project G-Assist which will help you while playing PC games
Alongside the announcement of RTX-powered Copilot PCs, NVIDIA also teased Project G-Assist. Yes, the same G-Assist that NVIDIA pranked you all with on 2017’s April Fools’ Day. It showed off a real demo of the AI Assistant but said it might not make its way to customers.
Although NVIDIA just showcased G-Assist, one can tell by the demo how AI assistant could revolutionize the gameplay experience. In the demo itself, you can see that AI assistant can even configure optimal settings based on chat inputs.
It can help you with performance increment recommendations during gameplay. And, even help overclock the GPU if you ask for it. G-Assist also responds to voice queries and even understands what’s happening on the screen during the gameplay.
As you may know, Microsoft recentlyshowed off a similar demowhere the Copilot AI assistant could be seen helping a Minecraft player during gameplay.
