In an embarrassing moment for Microsoft, the Redmond-based tech giant had to take down the much-publicized AI model,WizardLM 2, within hours of launch. Now, the official announcement stands deleted, and the AI model’s files have been removed fromGitHubandHugging Face.

This was confirmed by the developers in anofficial post onX(formerly Twitter).

But within those few hours, several users downloaded the AI model and uploaded it across different distribution channels.

All of Microsoft’s efforts to prevent an untested (fortoxicity testing) version of theWizardLM 2AI model from making it to a wider audience were rendered moot, since it spread like wildfire ever since the tech giant took it down.

Now, it’s available onGitHubandHugging Facefrom unofficial sources, and there’s even a download link on theWizardLMDiscord channel. We even found links to these sources on multiple Reddit threads.

As for those believing that the initially released version was entirely uncensored, that’s untrue. TheWizardLM 2AI model only lackedtoxicity testing, a critical requirement for all new models. Other measures were all in place!

We will have to wait for the re-release ofWizardLM 2, though a timeline for it has not been provided yet.

Last year, theWizardLMaccusedPhindof stealing their workand not giving credit.
