Surprise, surprise, can you believe it? Microsoft has been offering a New Tab extension named “WowTab” for the Edge browser in the Add-ons Store for some time now, we noticed it today on the Edge Addons Page.
Microsoft Edge comes with a cluttered New Tab Page with background,news feed, and site links. But, Edge allows users to adjust the NTP layout to their needs with options such as Focused, Inspirational, and Informational. Users also can customize their backgrounds from the plenty that Microsoft offers.Edge New Tab Page supports video wallpapers too.
There were already plenty of New Tab Page extensions available on Chrome Web Store and Edge add-ons Store, where you can notice some fine ones such as Momentum, but there are other ad-focused and malware intent extensions to be aware of that change Browser search engine and New Tab Page and act like malware.
Microsoft WowTab, New Tab Extension for Edge
Taking this into account, Microsoft has released a new Tab Page extension named “Microsoft WowTab” to the Edge add-ons Store. WindowsReport noticed it today while navigating through the add-ons store. While Chrome itself doesn’t offer a New Tab extension, Microsoft has other ideas for this on Edge.
Microsoft designed WowTab extension for Edge to give a clean and tidy Home Page to focus on your work and study.
It comes withRegularandCalmmodes. The regular mode shows the weather forecast and includes some top site links as usual for access to popular websites, along with a news feed that appears as you scroll down.
WoWtab includes anAIsection that shows links to AI sites and services such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grammarly, etc.
Regular Mode Settings include wallpapers to customize the WOwTab New Tab Page and widgets for a surprise with the weather you already see. You can trywidgetssuch as “Bookmarks”, “Current Goal”, “White Noise Player”, and “Focus Timer”.
Work Tab included on the left navigation includes shortcuts to navigate to Github, Office, iCloud, Gmail, Slack, etc. Wowtab allows to show or hide feeds in General Settings.
Calm mode with ocean background and sound definitely may give inner peace and focus with good motivational quotes.
Note: Microsoft Edge disables New Tab extensions and alerts you about the same when you install. WoWTab makes Bing as default search engine.
Microsoft WowTab Extension in Edge add-ons Store.The Extension is available for Edge running Mac as wellon the Mac App Store.
Apart from this New Tab Extension release, Microsoft hasdeprecated Cryptowalletin the Edge browser.
