The Microsoft System Center 2025 is the next release of its Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC). The company will release it during the fall of 2024. Also, it will be available for general access. In addition, later this year, Microsoft will launch the 2025 versions of the Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Virtual Machine Manager (VMM), Service Manager (SM), System Center Orchestrator (SCO), and Data Protection Manager (DPM).
What is the System Center?
Microsoft’s System Center(SC) is a suite of management tools. The company released it in 2008 to make it easier for IT professionals to manage data centers and cloud services more effectively. So, if you want to know more about the System Center 2025 tools, check the list below:
What comes with the SC 2025?
Microsoft will bring the System Center 2025 with itsWindows Server 2025. So, you will have all of the support needed from day 0. In addition, the new version of the System Center will support the management and monitoring of Azure Stack HCI 23H2 clusters using the VMM and SCOM tools.
In addition, Microsoft will add support for the latest versions of Linux distros when the System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) 2025 becomes generally available. Also, the Data Protection Manager will let IT professionals exclude specific disks from backups in Hyper-V environments. On top of that, the SC 2025 integrates well with the SharePoint Subscription Edition. In addition, it provides virtual TPM (vTPM) support for VMware.
The System Center 2025 will also bring some improvements. For example, it doesn’t rely as much on CredSSP (Credential Security Support Provider) and NTLM (NT LAN Manager) as authentication mechanisms. The Virtual machines made with VMM will default to Generation 2. So, they will have faster startups and secure booting.
TheTransport Layer Security(TLS) version 1.3 supports the System Center 2025 products. Thus, they can benefit from the latest encryption standards. Also, Microsoft introduced support for OLEDB 19, the API that allows you to access data from various sources. Additionally, DPM 2025 lets you store passphrases in the Azure Key Vault.
Ultimately, Microsoft will discontinue the Azure Profiles feature in VMM and the System Center Service Provider Foundation (SPF). However, they will be present in the Arc-enabled VMM. On top of that, the new System Center 2025 will support the Latest Arc-enabled capabilities of Windows Server 2025 from Day 0.
