This week, Microsoft released several quality-of-life improvements to Excel for the Web,including a new modern look;the Redmond-based tech giant announced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint file menus on the Web are also getting a series of updates.
According to the official announcement, renaming files has become much more straightforward. You don’t need to right-click or go through menus anymore—just click on the file name in the title bar and rename it immediately. The autosave feature has also been given a new appearance.
But how do we find commands? Microsoft listened to our frustrated sighs and made it simple. Everything is right there, at your fingertips. Need to rename a file? Just click its title. Worried about losing changes? Hunt for the green cloud icon. How about demonstrating your folder structure or exporting to PDF? It is all naturally found within the File menu.
Your file is saved automatically, so it’s always current. Making copies or downloading feels simple, too. Furthermore, if you need to keep track of different versions or transport documents, the File menu now has commands for ‘Move’ and ‘Version History.’
These updates are rolling out now to some users and will be available for everyone by August 2024. If you have a comment or thought about these changes, Microsoft is open to hearing from you. Feedback can be found in the Help menu with just a few clicks of your mouse.
