Microsoft is testing a new feature, titledHiding of inactive channels, which will automatically detect and hide the inactive channels where there has been no interaction for a while in Microsoft Teams.

The feature’s description in theMicrosoft 365 Roadmapsays,

TheHiding of inactive channelsfeature, added to the roadmap onMay 31, 2024, will be available for the desktop, web, and Mac versions of the Microsoft Teams app. It’s underGeneral Availabilityand is expected to roll out byJuly 2024!

However, there’s a lack of clarity from Microsoft’s end as to what entails an inactive channel. It failed to mention the maximum duration of inactivity, after which Teams will automatically hide a channel. Perhaps it will all be available in the feature’s dedicated settings.

The good news is that you can always review and unhide inactive channels, manually initiate the detection of inactive channels, and disable the feature altogether.

Last month, duringMicrosoft Build 2024,the Redmond-based tech giant announced a wide array ofimprovements in Microsoft Teams.
