Microsoft Teams will soon allow developers to create Approvals Graph APIs, which effectively allows them to manage approvals from every application. The Redmond-based tech giant announced it through the additionof an entry to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, stating:
The Approvals Graph APIs allows developers to create and manage Approvals from any application. This set of APIs allows users to integrate Approvals with line of business application and automate creation and updates of approvals.
As the company says, the new Approvals Graph APIs let organizations integrate their Microsoft Teams app management within other business platforms, allowing managers, IT admins, or even executives to personally approve the installation of new apps in the platform from other platforms.
In turn, this will lead to the organization providing a safer working environment. We all know by now just how fragile and susceptible to cyberattacks Microsoft 365 is: in 2022, alone,over 80% of accountswere hacked at least once.
Phishing attacks on Teamsare some of the most popular and used forms of attacks on this platform, and they often require the installation of an unknown app that might be automatically set up only by accessing chat links.
This is where a Microsoft Teams Approvals API can save the day: by enabling this policy, managers can quickly oversee the installation of unknown apps on Teams from different platforms and can act swiftly if such a situation happens.
The Microsoft Teams Approvals API can also allow discreet app management and could be a solution to catch bad actors.
The new capability will be introduced in Teams in June 2024, and it will be generally available for all versions of the platform. Organizations will only need to instruct developers to create such APIs, first, and they can be integrated with the company’s infrastructure.
