It’s been some time since Teams allowed usersto log in to the platform but appear offline, and ever since that feature was released, I have always wondered if Microsoft could somehow update the DND (Do Not Disturb) option on Teams to be quietly accessible in certain situations, such as screen sharing.
Well, it seems that the Redmond-based tech giant listened. According to the latest entry in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, the company will update the Do Not Disturb option to Teams for mobile users to opt out automatically when screen sharing happens.
Even if the option is enabled, and users are presented under the Do Not Disturb status, they can still receive call notifications on Teams, but they won’t have to adjust their presence status anymore.
Here’s whatthe entrysays:
We’re introducing a setting that allows Teams Phone Mobile users to opt-out of your presence automatically transitioning to Do Not Disturb when presenting or screen sharing. When this setting is enabled, users will be able to continue to receive call notifications when presenting, without having to manually adjust their presence status.
It’s quite useful: the update provides more flexibility for Teams Phone Mobile users, allowing them to choose whether they want their presence to automatically switch to Do Not Disturb when they are presenting or sharing their screen.
Additionally, they won’t miss any important calls while doing so, as the option will notify them of any calls when they’re set to Do Not Disturb.
Teams users won’t have to wait for long, as the new change will be released in June 2024: however, initially, only the Teams for Mobile users can enjoy this change.
