Microsoft Teams will allow users to create their own custom personalized emojis

At theMicrosoft Build 2024, the Redmond-based tech giant announced some big and exciting new features coming to its work-oriented platform, Teams, includingthe new Team Copilot, the company’s own approach to Google’s AI Teammate.

Team Copilot, while quite exciting, might not be enough to surpass the real excitement coming to Teams, which is the ability to create your own custom emojis. Yes, you’ve heard that right.

The platform will be updated to allow users to upload their emojis, and once there, they will be available to the whole tenancy. Here’s what Microsoft says:

Once uploaded, custom emojis will only be visible within the user’s tenant. IT admins will be able to decide who has permission to create custom emojis, delete custom emojis or turn off the capability altogether.

The capability will not be available right away, as Microsoft will release it in a preview in June. However, at the Build 2024 conference, the Redmond-based tech giant says another exciting feature is available immediately in the platform, and that’s the ability to find shared code faster:

When a developer shares code via a permalink in Teams chat, it now expands to provide a rich preview from Microsoft Azure DevOps, enabling the recipient to view the code in the source app.

Plus, aside from being able to come up with their own custom emojis in Teams, users will also be able to use the platform’s Intelligent Recap to transcribe a Teams meeting without the need to have the audio recording of it.
