Microsoft announced the release of the commercial preview ofMicrosoft Office LTSC 2024for Windows and Mac devices, which could help us understand what we can expect from Office 2024.

We know that Microsoft has announced that Office 2024 will be available this year and will replace Office 2021. So far, there is no official release date for this version.

In thetech blog post by Microsoft, we got to know that Office LTSC 2024 will include all the features present in the previous Office version and some new features available in Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise.

The company also mentioned:

Office LTSC is built for specialized use cases that require a long-term servicing channel such as regulated devices that cannot accept feature updates for years at a time, manufacturing process control devices that are not connected to the internet, or medical testing equipment running embedded apps that must stay locked in time.

Although the LTSC version is different from the Office Home version, it provides us with some clues about the latter. The upcoming version will replace Office 2021 and will also be a one-time purchase version that will have Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

This servicing channel will be supported for five years under theFixed Lifecycle Policy, in parallel withWindows 11 LTSC, which will launch this year.

The Redmond tech giant mentioned earlier that Office 2024 would be supported for five years and that the price wouldn’t be different from the previous iteration, which was $150 for a license on a single machine.

The Windows for Office 2024 LTSC version will include Excel, Word, Access, OneNote, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Skype for Business; the Mac version has Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, and Outlook. However, this version does not include all the AI and cloud-based collaboration features.

As of the Office 2024 Home version, we will get all the apps except Skype for Business. As for Outlook, the availability is uncertain due to the fact Microsoft has made Outlook for Mac and Windows (not the classic one) a free app.
