The Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s hit gaming subscription model that allows users from all over the world to access hundreds to thousands of video games on their Xbox consoles, and Windows PCs, can now only be extended to 13 months in certain countries.

While some Xbox subscriptions can be extended by using gift cards, or Microsoft Rewards points, Xbox users from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Singapore, Taiwan, and Türkiye might want to be careful as the Redmond-based tech giant will only allow them to extend their current subscription to a maximum of 13 months.

In a blog post, Microsoft says that users from all the other countries where the Xbox Game Pass subscription is available, can extend it to a maximum of 36 months (3 years), but the countries mentioned above can only extend it for a year and a month.

Game Pass Core,Game Pass for Console, andPC Game Passcan be extended to a maximum of 36 months in all countries where they’re available except for the following, where the limit is 13 months: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Singapore, Taiwan, and Türkiye.

Users from Argentina and Türkiye are even more unlucky: extending the EA Play is limited to 13 months as well, in these regions, while the rest of countries are allowed to extend it up to a maximum of 3 years.

EA Playcan be extended to a maximum of 36 months in all countries where it’s available, except for the following where the limit is 13 months: Argentina and Türkiye.

Those who try to extend their Xbox Game Pass subscriptions well beyond the 13-month limit will receive an error from Microsoft saying:Hold off extending this right now.

If you’re attempting to redeem a code or gift card that will extend a subscription beyond its limit, you’ll receive a “Hold off extending this right now” error message and will need to wait until the limit won’t be exceeded.

Meanwhile, if you think it’s not worth extending the Game Pass subscription that much, you might want to take a look atthe upcoming titles coming to it. You might have a change of heart.
