Microsoft will finally add the author inline comments capability to SharePoint, allowing multiple users to collaborate, work on issues, or provide feedback on existing matters, all within a page or a news post.
The capability will enhance productivity in the platform and streamline workflows. It will also allow teams to complete tasks faster in SharePoint. However, according to the entry in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, SharePoint users will have to wait a bit until Microsoft releases the capability: it is scheduled for a December 2024 release, so at the end of the year.

Until then, though, SharePoint users should get excited about the other new capabilities coming to the platform. For instance, SharePoint will updateall news posts to Made for Email, keeping all benefits of the two labels, starting in May 2024.
The Redmond-based tech giant will also updateSharePoint’s reporting modeto support a 180-day history of all changes, making IT managers’ lives easier, by allowing them to create custom reports with all the actions made in their organizations. The feature will also be released in May 2024.
So, as you can see there are a couple of capabilities to enjoy until Microsoft releases Author inline comments to SharePoint. It’s also worth noting that sometimes dates in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap are presumptive, so the Redmond-based tech giant might actually release the new capability sooner.
