At theMicrosoft Build 2024, the Redmond-based tech giant introduced Team Copilot, an assistant that will be ever present in Teams chats to help all users access information easily, and faster.

As a valuable new team member, Team Copilot will work with teams to transform collaboration and workflows, and take on administrative tasks that are often time-consuming and costly for teams.

Team Copilot will be considered a Meeting facilitator, which will allow the AI to manage agenda for meetings, and do other tasks, such as taking notes, suggesting tasks, and summarising.

Microsoft has also developed Team Copilot to allow users from these meetings to co-author and edit these notes.

There is also a Group Moderator feature that Team Copilot is capable of. This one will bring it closer to Google AI Teammate, by responding to questions and helping users access information. Team Copilot will also work as a manager, and Microsoft developed it to supervise projects. It can use the Planner app in Teams to recommend tasks, and it can check up on deadlines. It can even send heads up to Teams members on their upcoming deadlines.

Microsoft will release Team Copilot sometime later this year.

In many ways, this new tool is Microsoft’s response toGoogle’s AI Teammate, which was previously announced by the tech company as a tool that can revolutionize workspaces. So, in many ways, the Redmond-based tech giant is seeking to catch up, and won’t let Google catch its breath.

It will be interesting to see how this new technology is adopted by users everywhere.
