You’re not alone if you ever want to return to a local account on your Windows PC from a Microsoft account. The Redmond-based tech giant updated its guides, making it easier to do so, but not before engaging in some flip-flopping—they first removed the guide for switching from a Microsoft Account to a Local account and then brought it back again after listening to user feedback.
There are several advantages to using a Microsoft account to sign into Windows instead of using a local one: smooth service connections, better protection, and the ability to sync devices. Even so, not everyone wants their Windows login linked with a Microsoft Account—some like local accounts because they are easier to access or offer more privacy, and they’re easier to manage ifyou forget the password.
The guide’s disappearance and later reappearance were truly interesting. Microsoft appeared to be holding back from highlighting the move back to Local accounts, stressing the benefits of using a Microsoft Account instead. Still, they reacted to user comments by putting the guide again, but with another part about recovery through a password reset disk.
According to the restored guide, changing from a Microsoft Account to a Local account is simple. Go into the Settings app, find your account information, and sign in using a Local account instead. This will require you to make new username and password for it, then you are returning on Local account setup. However,creating a password reset disk is better. This will help if you forget the new password and get locked out of your account.
Microsoft also provided a document explaining how to reset passwords for Microsoft and local accounts. This is very useful when you forget your password and need help logging back into your account.
Flexibility and user preference appear to be key. While Microsoft may have valid reasons to encourage Microsoft account use, switching back to a Local account is important for people who want this option.
Also, users obtain the details required for shifting when the guide is there again. This guarantees that people can utilize their Windows devices in a manner that aligns with their choices.
