Microsoft Edge’s media controls have been impacted by several UI changes over the last months, includinga new designanda new mute buttonallowing users to control dozens of tabs simultaneously.
However, the Redmond-based tech giant is once again changing the media control panel on Edge, as seen by tech enthusiast,@Leopeva64, who found out that the panel will be getting a special button that allows users to see which tab is currently playing media.
A small change to Edge’s media controls, one of those controls now appears at the bottom of the thumbnail of one of the “normal” tabs (those that aren’t playing media), and a small icon on the left tells you which tab those media controls belong to:https://t.co/Rd3vqX4PcCpic.twitter.com/7E1qX25Fdn
According to the spotter, there will be a new button at the bottom left of the tab in the panel, showcasing it as the one currently playing media.
The new button will quickly allow you to find out which tab is playing when multiple tabs are playing media, making the management of them easier, faster, and stress-free.
Once detected, these tabs can be paused, muted (thanks to the new button released some weeks ago), or closed entirely, so this is quite useful for those who prefer hanging around with tens of tabs at the same time (I’m one of them, and I’m using Edge, so this is beyond useful).
The new button is currently live for selected users on Edge for Canary, and it will be generally available to all users in the next weeks. But I’m counting them, as we speak because this is quite useful.
