Microsoft Edge is turning off Microsoft-based extensions and plugins to protect the browser from potential cyberattacks.Captured by a Reddit user, the browser has turned off the Microsoft WowTab extension after it deemed it a potential threat to the device’s stability.

However, this isn’t particularly the first time Microsoft Edge has been so careful. The browser has also stopped the Microsoft Rewards extension from working due to the same policy. So, no, Microsoft is not making an exception, even for Microsoft.

However, if you don’t want the pop-up to appear again (especially if it happens with the Microsoft Rewards extension), you can permanently disable it from Settings.

Microsoft Edge has gained popularity among users and is improving with each update. The browser now hasan auto-start optionfor the sidebar, among many other new capabilities and policies.

However, you should know that the Redmond-based tech giant is deprecatingthe CryptoWallet capability, and the Edge will no longer support it in future versions. Either way, the browser is thriving. Aside from becoming more popular by the month, it offers many features and extensions that greatly improve the user experience.
