Microsoft Edge is constantly being improved with new features, one of them being video translation.

It seems that this feature was updated recently, and that might change how Edge works with ads.

Video translation in Edge might skip ads

A few months ago, we wrote about thevideo translation feature in Edge, but the feature was in the early stages and it wasn’t working.

Video translation was spotted in Egde Canaryrecently with some basic settings, but still unable to translate anything.

Speaking of which, this feature was updated and now it supports Hindi, German, Spanish, Italian, and Russian languages.

While the feature is still not working, when trying to use it you’ll get a message saying: The language you selected needs to be installed and we’ll alert you when your video is ready.

To enable this feature, you need to do the following:

After doing that, you should see a translate icon when hovering over a video and you’ll be able to access it.

Currently, YouTube has the option to translate videos, and you can enable it by going to Settings and choosing Subtitles and the desired language or the Auto-translate option.

On the other hand, this feature on Edge offers both audio and subtitle translations, so it’s more advanced than its YouTube counterpart.

Also, it seems that the translate feature will skip ads or at least won’t translate them, but since the feature isn’t working yet, we haven’t had the chance to properly test it.

Overall, this sounds like an amazing feature, and we can’t wait to see it in action in future versions of Edge.
