Microsoft released another version of the Edge 128 build to the Beta Channel, and it’s already causing a stir by demanding the SSE3 instruction set.As we already told you, if your computer is an antique from twenty years ago, you must say goodbye to using this browser.

However, the build comes with many other capabilities, such as the quick update mechanism. Just think: You leave your computer for a coffee break, and when you come back, Edge has been updated to its newest version. This feature is gradually rolling out, promising a seamless browsing experience for everyone.

Get the latest updates effortlessly with instant update.Instant update in Microsoft Edge ensures you get the latest browser updates automatically, when you step away from your computer. So you can just keep browsing, knowing you already have the latest updates to keep you safe online. For more information, seeGet instant updates in Microsoft Edge – Microsoft Support.Note:This feature is a controlled feature rollout to consumer customers. A release to enterprise users is TBD. If you don’t see this feature, check back as we continue our rollout.

Edge 128 is also enhancing policies. It adds fresh policies that provide administrators with increased governance on how Copilot interacts with browser data, especially in the context of the Copilot browser.

Copilot browser Context Policies.TheDiscoverPageContextEnabledpolicy is obsoleted in Edge version 128 and doesn’t work after Microsoft Edge 127.

However, the update bid farewell to followable web features and policies, thus making the browser simpler in function. And for those who worry about safety issues, a new policy for insecure downloads over HTTP is coming soon. This policy alerts you if you are going to download something risky from less reliable sites.

Deprecation of the followable web feature. To improve end user experience, the followable web feature is deprecated. TheEdgeFollowEnabledpolicy is also obsolete.
