Microsoft recently released KB5043355, a new Windows 11 24H2 recovery update. The update improves the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) in Windows 11 24H2, the second feature update for this version in 2024.
WinRE isWindows’ recovery environment. It helps userstroubleshoot and recover from booting issues and other problems that might prevent the OS from booting into a state where regular use is possible.
KB5043355 is accompanied by KB5043353, which fixes Setup.exe binaries for Windows 11 24H2 and improves the overall Windows setup experience.
The update, which should be available via Windows Update, improves Windows setup binaries or any files that setup uses for feature updates in Windows 11, version 24H2.
As Microsoft explains, Dynamic Update is one of the first steps invoked as soon as a Windows feature update initiates, reaching out to an Internet-facing URL hosted by the company to fetch new content and then applying those updates to your OS installation media. That content includes fixes to set up binaries, Safe OS updates for the Windows Recovery Environment, Windows 10 servicing stack updates, the latest cumulative update, driver updates and more.
They will preserve language pack and Features on Demand content during the upgrade process, ensuring that you don’t lose any of the functionality you had before the update.
KB5043355andKB5043353are available for Arm64 and AMD64 Copilot+ PCs through the Windows Update Catalog.
On the other hand, the Redmond-based tech giant has also started rolling outthe September 2024 Patch Tuesday updatesvia Windows Updateas KB5043939, which improves the out-of-box experience (OOBE) in Windows 11 24H2. The OOBE update is optional and will install automatically during setup if the user has an active internet connection.
The company says the September 10, 2024 update improves the Windows 11, version 24H2 out-of-box experience (OOBE). This update applies only to the Windows 11 OOBE process and is available only when OOBE updates are installed.
In a separate document about OOBE, Microsoft explained what these OOBE updates deliver. It also notes that the update’s downloading and installation time depends on the user’s hardware and internet connectivity.
Critical driver updates and critical Windows zero-day patch (ZDP) updates will begin downloading automatically during OOBE after the user has connected to a network. The user can’t opt out of these critical updates as they are required for the device to operate properly. Windows will alert the user that the device is checking for and applying the updates.
