Microsoft announced a new company, Microsoft AI, on April 7, 2024, aiming to advance consumers’ AI products and conduct research, including Microsoft Copilot.

Mustafa Suleyman, EVP and CEO of Microsoft AI mentioned in theblog post:

I’m thrilled to share that Microsoft AI is opening a new AI hub in the heart of London.Microsoft AI Londonwill drive pioneering work to advance state-of-the-art language models and their supporting infrastructure, and to create world-class tooling for foundation models, collaborating closely with our AI teams across Microsoft and with our partners, including OpenAI.

This new AI hub will be headed by Jordan Hoffmann, who is an AI scientist and engineer, and he will join the London Paddington office.

As mentioned in the blog post, the Redmond tech giant is considering a long-term investment in the region and will, therefore, be scouting for the best AI scientists and engineers for the new AI hub in the coming weeks and months.

So, this news is exciting for people who want to try out new AI-powered products by Microsoft and could be a great opportunity for people in the UK with experience in AI.

This new company, Microsoft AI London hub, is an addition to Microsoft’s existing presence in the UK, which includes the Microsoft Research Cambridge lab. Along with this, Microsoft disclosed its £2.5 billion investment to enhance U.K. workforce skills for the AI era and establish the essential infrastructure to support the rapidly growing AI economy.
