In a big news for teachers and students, Microsoft and Khan Academy have joined forces to deliver more teaching-oriented AI tools. An outcome of the collaboration is thatKhanmigo for Teacheris now available for free to K-12 educators across the US.
Khanmigopreviously cost$4per month, which translates into$48of direct annual savings for educators.
Khan Academy is a non-profit education organization founded by Sal Khan and headquartered in the US. It’s used by students and teachers worldwide. The partnership between the two was announced during the ongoingMicrosoft Build 2024 event.
According toMicrosoft News,Khanmigowill now be hosted on the Azure AI service, making it the latest to switch to Microsoft’s native cloud and AI platform. Also, high-quality content from Khan Academy’s library will now be integrated into Copilot and Teams for Education to expand access to more educators and students.
As for Microsoft, the Redmond-based tech giant will benefit from access to math-related questions and answers to develop and fine-tune the AI-powered math tutoring capabilities ofPhi-3, its new small language model.
The collaboration between Microsoft and Khan Academy offers a wide array of benefits to educators and students in the US. In my opinion, these benefits should be available across the globe, especially in countries where access to good education remains a privilege only a few can afford!
