Logitech announced the release of the second version of its popular MeetUp camera, MeetUp 2, which will be released in August. It can already be pre-orderedhere.
The new camera costs around$899.00, and if you think that is way too much for such a tool, you’re not entirely wrong. But Logitech says it’s worth it.
MeetUp 2 is an AI-enhanced camera prepared for use in different situations. It can be connected to a PC-based setup, but it will also work in a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) situation. It also has a speaker with a bass reflex enclosure and patented suspension design, microphones with AI-powered noise reduction and echo cancelation, and voice detection.
The entire list of specifications can be found on the official site, but they’re many and varied, and Logitech made sure its new MeetUp 2 camera meets the current expectations of AI technologies.
Interestingly enough, MeetUp 2 might be the right camera for Microsoft Teams. Like its predecessor, this camera is compatible with the platform, but its new AI capabilities might make a perfect match with Teams.
As you already know, Teams has dozens of AI capabilities for peripheral tools, such as cameras. One of them is calledIntelliframe, and with it, Microsoft Teams can automatically detect who’s speaking following the participants in a meeting.
It uses the camera to visualize the participant, and then it looks for that participant in the meeting database, automatically identifying them and displaying them from various perspectives. Intelliframe was announced last June, but it was only added to Teams in November 2023, so the capability is still new.
Using a camera such as MeetUp 2, Teams’ Intelliframe will be enhanced to provide an almost natural interaction of a hybrid setting, bringing these sorts of meetings closer to face-to-face meetings.
Logitech seems to be pointing in that direction, too, with the newest AI-powered capabilities of the MeetUp 2 camera, RightSight 2, and RightSsound 2. Both will create a natural-looking and sounding perspective, even when from afar.
