Lists forms in SharePoint are about to receive a set of updates in the following months that will greatly improve their ability to gather data or other relevant information.

And if we’re being honest, these might be the most significant changes the platform has ever known to date. It’s not an exaggeration. According to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, which was recently updated, Microsoft Lists within SharePoint will receive no less than four updates.

Two of them will be released in September, while the other two are coming to the platform in November, and they all focus on improving how users interact with lists in SharePoint.

For instance, one of the featurescoming in September will focus on scheduling and turning on and off responses to forms. This means list form owners and collaborators can schedule specific dates to start and stop accepting responses.

Owners and collaborators can schedule specific dates and times to start and stop accepting responses. The form will be active during the designated period and automatically stop accepting responses once the scheduled end time is reached.

The other capabilitycoming to Microsoft Lists in September is being notified when there are new form responses. Users and owners can be notified of any new response to a form via email. This capability is quite useful when you want to keep track of your forms and know exactly how many responses you have.

Lists forms users can subscribe to be notified of new responses on their forms. By default, this would be toggled off, but a form collaborator can toggle on and receive an email notification for every new response on that form after.

The capabilities coming in November are a bit more complex, and maybe that’s why the Redmond-based tech giant is releasing them just then. The first of themintroduces conditional branching in Microsoft Lists forms. With it, users can create dynamic forms that use logic. For example, the form will display relevant questions based on previous answers.

Microsoft Lists forms will enable users to create dynamic forms featuring branching and conditional logic. This update allows users to customize their forms to display relevant questions based on conditions applied to previous responses, empowering them to design smarter forms that adapt to their data collection needs.

Ultimately, one of the most valuable enhancements to Microsoft Lists in SharePoint is the abilityto add attachments to forms; if you want to provide additional info and context to those answering your form, you can upload attachments, such as documents or files.

Users will be able to add attachment fields to enhance their list forms. This feature allows users to upload files directly to the form, providing additional context or necessary documentation.

The Redmond-based tech giant has been making significant changes to the SharePoint platform, such as adding the content pane feature, so it’s no wonder the company is updating it even further.
