The latest patch to the Beta Insider Channelis breaking things up with the Link to Windows app. According to tech enthusiast XenoPanther, the patch might have affected the app, as it quickly drains the battery of mobile devices when they’re on 5G.
Apparently, Link to Windows can drain the phone’s battery from 100% to 6% in just 8 hours,says the enthusiast:
I think the latest beta update to the Link to Windows app on my phone is causing the battery to quickly drain when on 5G. Usually my phone lasts the entire day, but I went from 100% to 6% in 8 hours, with most of that time being spent idling
Aside from draining the battery while the phone is idle, the app might also increase the phone’s temperature, so whatever Microsoft has done to the Link to Windows app could affect mobile devices.

After Microsoft noticed the enthusiast’s update, the company might have fixed it, only to return a few days later, when the enthusiast reported the issue was not fixed.
If you’re enlisted in the Windows Insider Program within the Beta Channel and you’re testing the Link to Windows app, make sure to do so with a spare mobile device instead of your main one, as the issue can potentially permanently harm your device’s battery.
