The week has just begun, and the Windows Insider Community has already been offered several builds through the different channels of the Insider Program. The latest KB5041587 to the Windows 11 Insider Release Preview Channel is no exception.
First, KB5041587 introduces a new feature in the Windows Share window that allows you to share content withyour Android device. To make this work, you’ll need to pair your Android device with your Windows PC using the Link to Windows app on your Android device and Phone Link on your PC.
KB5041587also brings several improvements to make life easier for those using accessibility technologies. For instance, the Narrator’s scan mode has been made quicker, which is a big plus when browsing large documents in Microsoft Edge. And for those who use voice access, you’ll be pleased to know that dictating characters and editing text just got faster and more intuitive.
On the technical side, there are updates to the Input Method Editor (IME), Bluetooth policies, and fixes for issues related to the File Explorer navigation pane and symbolic links. An update for Unified Write Filter (UWF) and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) users addresses a deadlock issue that prevented devices from restarting as expected.
One exciting update concerns hibernate-stop errors. Suppose you’ve ever experienced your laptop not responding after resuming from hibernate, especially after opening and closing the lid multiple times. In that case, this update might be the fix you’ve been waiting for.
The changelog also mentions the European Digital Markets Act (DMA) and how it affects Microsoft Entra single sign-on (SSO). There’s a hiccup with the SSO notice prompting too often when authenticating using a certificate.
It’s important to note that the KB5041587 updates might not be available to everyone immediately. They’re rolling out gradually, so some might have to wait longer to get them.
Microsoft also releasedbuilds to the Dev Channel, which changes the layout of Windows 11’s Taskbar andbuilds to the Beta Channel, which finally fixes the emoji panel.
