The newest Windows 11 update, build 26120.1340 (KB5040557), to the Insider Dev Channel is making PCs more environmentally friendly. Microsoft just released the build, and with it, the company decided to focus on energy-saving capabilities.
For example, when your laptop battery reaches 20% and the Energy Saver is set as “Always On,” you will receive a prompt to connect. Forpeople who have HDR displays, a fresh suggestion is available in Power & Battery settings that says to turn off HDR to save energy.
KB5040557 also brings amouse update in the Settings under Bluetooth & Devices. You can switch off enhanced mouse pointer precision for people who don’t like it. You can also change your mouse’s scrolling direction now.
The update improves the ability of people who use voice access to spell and fix mistakes with voice. Picture yourself dictating at a quicker pace without stumbling on your words. It’s like conversing with your PC, but now it understands you better.
But it’s not all good news. Some known problems exist, such as Windows Sandbox not launching or Task Manager crashing when you navigate between pages. Also, if you add languages or optional features, you could encounter error 0x800f081f.
You can readKB5040557’s full changelog here. If you’re part of the Windows Insider Program, don’t forget to downloadthe latest KB5040555, a small but essential build for the Beta Channel.
