Microsoft is working vigilantly on Windows 11, and it’s frequently addressing issues with new updates, but sometimes certain updates can bring new problems.
Many reported issues with the KB5037771 for Windows 11, and here are some of the problems that users have encountered.
KB5037771 update for Windows 11 refuses to install causing Firefox issues and other problems
This was first reported on theMicrosoft Answers forumand one user reported that he was unable to download or install the update due to an installation error:
So ive tried updating this multiple times, ive restarted my pc, downloaded the standalone update, which didnt doanload it. i searched it up, and found nothing, this has been going on since around march now. it just says install error. i have a win 11 nvidia rtx 3070 16gb ram
This has been going on for a while, but that’s not the only problem as many had problems with Firefox according toReddit.
Updated to KB5037771 today. Afterwards, Firefox had trouble opening after being closed due to a Firefox process refusing to close. Even restarting PC would not fix it.
The same user also encountered issues with sound following this update:
I also had a seemingly unrelated issue where my sound was randomly muted after restarting my PC. I then reinstalled my Nvidia driver since that’s what I use as my audio driver and both issues were fixed(at least so far).
It seems that the issue was caused by the Nvidia driver, but after reinstalling it, the issue was gone. WhileKB5037771 fixes VPN issues, it seems to have created other problems that can be easily addressed.
The most recent issue showed up again on theMicrosoft Answers forum. Apparently, the users not only can’t install the update, but the attempt throws out the 0x80070002 error on their PCs.
This time, a moderator suggested using theSFCFixthird-party tool to repair the Windows Update problem, then, using thelatest cumulative update previewusing the offline installer.
In other news,Release Preview update KB5037853 was released, and it brings various improvements, so if you’re on the Release Preview Channel, don’t miss it.
