We know Qualcomm is focusing on theSnapdragon X Series of chips, which will be shipping in June 2024, with Microsoft Copilot +PC in mind.

Intel is also not behind. The tech giant is all set to launch a processor code-named Lunar Lake in Q3 2024, just in time for the holiday season.

The processor will include 80 new laptop designs from more than 20 original PC manufacturers and AI capabilities for Copilot+ PCs. In addition, it will have Copilot+ features, including Recall, which will be available in future updates.

Keeping in mind, the success of Intel Core Ultra processors and with the launch of Lunar Lake, Intel is all set to ship more than 40 million AI-powered PC processors this year.

Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Intel executive vice president and general manager of the Client Computing Group said:

With breakthrough power efficiency, the trusted compatibility of x86 architecture and the industry’s deepest catalog of software enablement across the CPU, GPU and NPU, we will deliver the most competitive joint client hardware and software offering in our history with Lunar Lake and Copilot+.

Intel also added:

Lunar Lake is expected to be a groundbreaking mobile processor for AI PCs with more than 3 times the AI performance compared with the previous generation. With more than 40 NPU tera operations per second (TOPS), Intel’s next generation processors will provide the capabilities necessary for Copilot+ experiences coming to market. In addition to the higher performing NPU, Lunar Lake will also be equipped with over 60 GPU TOPS delivering more than 100 platform TOPS.

Pavan Davuluri, corporate vice president of Windows + Devices at Microsoft said:

The launch of Lunar Lake will bring meaningful fundamental improvements across security, battery life, and more thanks to our deep co-engineering partnership with Intel. We are excited to see Lunar Lake come to market with a 40+ TOPS NPU which will deliver Microsoft’s Copilot+ experiences at scale when available.

Snapdragon X chips are already in the news due to the AI-powered chips, now Intel has joined the race, soon AMD will follow. As of now, Snapdragon X powered devices are estimated to be launched on high prices but there is no such news for Intel.
