In case you’ve forgotten, Microsoft will shut down support for Windows 11 versions 21H2 and 22H2in 90 days. If you are thinking about why, this is quite common. Microsoft wants to maintain safety and modernity in its ecosystem, so it must bid farewell to previous iterations.
October 8, 2024, is the end of the road for these versions. No more security patches or fixes will be sent out after this date. Think of it as similar to the last call at a bar but for your computer’s safety. And let’s be honest, no one wants to be left vulnerable.
On October 8, 2024, Windows 11, version 21H2 (Enterprise,Education, andIoT Enterpriseeditions) and Windows 11, version 22H2 (Home and Proeditions) will reach end of servicing. The upcoming October 2024 security update, to be released on October 8, 2024, will be the last update available for these editions. After this date, devices running these editions will no longer receive monthly security and preview updates containing protections from the latest security threats.
But don’t worry—Microsoft is not abandoning you. If your device does not have an IT department managing it, it will be automatically updated to version 23H2. This latest version, which is available now, keeps your device in the safety zone and ensures protection from the newest security dangers.
Regarding the most recent, Windows 11 version 23H2 is new and will be supported until November 11, 2025. Windows 11 24H2,which is already out for Copilot+ PCs, will arrive on regular PCs under the name ofWindows 11 2024 Updatelater this year, around September-October.
If you are using Windows 11 versions 21H2 or 22H2, you need to consider an update now. Your device already supports 23H2, and it shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes to 1 hourto download and install the update.
