Hyperkin is making nostalgia touchable withtherevealingof DuchesS – a wired controller for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. This isn’t just your regular controller; it’s a licensed replica from Japan that mimics theSmodel which was initially released alongside the very first Xbox.
Do you recall the issue regarding the Duke controller’s large size? The DuchesS is now showing up to remind us of the solution that came afterwards. Starting preorders on 15th July and having an official launch date of 21st August, 2024, it shows clearly Hyperkin keeps pushing to bring back old classics.
The DuchesS is not Hyperkin’s initial attempt. They have already brought back the Duke and Xenon controllers, targeting individuals like us who miss old-fashioned gaming experiences. The DuchesS, costing $50, offers not only a history lesson but also modern functional gaming with features such as impulse triggers, 3.5mm headset jack and many more (Chacos). Hyperkin’s lead developer, Slade Dude Suzuki, calls it a cool feat to let gamers use any version of Xbox controller from all the generations on modern consoles.
The DuchesS, together with the Duke and Xenon, are parts of gaming history. It’s quite sad that these rare gems are wired because of decisions made by Microsoft concerning Xbox wireless protocols; however at $50 each they can be seen as reasonably priced for their uniqueness and sentimental value.
It’s good that Hyperkin is trying to maintain the history of Xbox. Whether you remember the first Xbox well or are interested in special gaming tools, DuchesS will probably attract your attention. Now, are you prepared to go on a journey into the past with the DuchesS in your hands?
