Not long ago, theU.S. revokedIntel & Qualcomm’s licenses for exporting chips to Huawei. The reason behind the ban is to slow down China’s technological advancement. This decision led Huawei to release a new processor named Kirin 9000C with its new Qingyun W515x computer.

Qingyun W515 specifications

Qingyun W515 specifications

The new Qingyun W515 is a slimline OEM PC made for businesses. According toTom’s Hardware, it has a slim Micro-ATX form factor for low-profile PCIe cards and comes with three storage options.

The first configuration has 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD, the second one has 8GB RAM and a 512GB SSD, and the third one has 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. In addition, all of them include a single NVMe M.2 PCIe slot.

Huawei didn’t mention anything else about its Kirin 9000C CPU specifications. Yet, some rumors say that the Kirin division is working on a processor capable of rivaling Apple’s M3. So, even with the U.S. regulations, Huawei might have found a way to improve the performance of its home-made processors.

The computer tower has three USB Type A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a Type-C port, an audio jack, and a disk drive on the front, and has three audio jacks, a single serial port, VGA, HDMI, four USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and an ethernet slot on the back.

In addition, the case has three low-profile slots, but the motherboard has only one PCie x1 slot. So, you can only connect a small single- or dual-slot low-profile 1x compatible PCIe cards.

Is Kirin 9000C better than its predecessor?

Kirin 9000C is an octa-core processor with 12 threads and a 2.48 frequency. It clocks up to 3.1 GHz and features an Arm-based Mali-G78 integrated GPU. Also, it might use SMIC’s 5nm tech. However, compared to its predecessor, Kirin 9000, this model has a lower GPU performance and is slower.

Ultimately, this is most of what we know about Huawei’s new Qingyun W515 computer and the Kirin 9000C processor. We will get more details about the PC soon. Hopefully, we will see some demos or benchmarks to know what it is capable of.

What are your thoughts? Will Huawei manage to create processors that rival Apple’s M3? Let us know in the comments.
