Greylock McKinnon Associates (GMA), a Boston consulting firm, became the latest reported victim of a sophisticated cyberattack affecting341,650users.
As per reports, the breach occurred onMay 30, 2023, and GMA soon informed law enforcement and DOJ. Details pertaining to the breach are available with theOffice of the Maine Attorney Generaland can be accessed from itsofficial website.
In the meantime, GMA hired cybersecurity experts to mitigate the threat and identify the extent of damage. ByFebruary 7, 2024, the consulting firm had discovered the extent of the data breach, what information was stolen, and the details of the affected users.
Greylock McKinnon Associates notifies users of the breach
As more details emerged of the cyber breach, Greylock McKinnon Associates got into the process of notifying users onApril 4, 2024. It sent out a notice to affected parties onApril 8, 2024, roughly a year after the data breach.
As for the information breached in the cyber attack, GMA confirmed that it included the Social Security number.
The good news at the moment is that there has been no reported misuse of the breached information, and GMA has confirmed the same in its notice to affected users.
Now, Greylock McKinnon Associates is offering 24-month complimentary access toSingle Bureau Credit Monitoring/Single Bureau Credit Report/Single Bureau Credit Score servicesto the affected parties. This will help notify you of any changes to the credit file the same day.
