The gaming industry is worth hundreds of billions, and in a bid to tap into the market, Germany started a grant to promote game development in the country. It even began hosting an award show to felicitate developers from across the globe, and it included cash prizes.

The cash prizes are to incentivize and encourage developers in Germany to release exciting titles. According to a report published inPC Gamer,Michael Kellner,Parliamentary State Secretaryat theFederal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, wants games like Baldur’s Gate 3 to be developed in Germany.

A report fromGame Developersuggests that Germany will spend €100 million($106.92 million)over the next three years to promote game development. This year, the government will disburse $36.2 million, one-third of the three-year target!

By pumping huge amounts of money into gaming, the German government wants to develop an ecosystem at par with countries like Canada, the UK, and France, considered pioneers in the gaming space.

Whether Germany succeeds in its plans for a flourishing game industry with the sizable grant will be evident in a few years. But they can still develop aBaldur’s Gate 3 sequelsince Larian has stepped away!
