Copilot is a great tool that we and many others use daily, and speaking of which, it seems that Microsoft is making some changes to Copilot settings in Edge.

These settings control how Copilot accesses your data on the web, so let’s dive in and see what has been changed.

Microsoft renames Copilot settings in Edge Canary

Many claim thatCopilot doesn’t work as well as ChatGPT, and Microsoft is determined to improve its service. To achieve that, the company has alreadyreassigned employees from Teams to Copilot development.

As for other changes, Microsoft is rephrasing Copilot settings in Edge Canary to avoid any potential issues. In the past, Copilot had this option:

Allow Microsoft to access page content

Send my browsing data to Microsoft to make AI-generated answers and suggestions more relevant on Copilot

That has been changed to the following:

Allow Copilot to read context clues on the web

Copilot may give better answers based on the current webpage, browser history, or your preferences in Microsoft Edge.

Despite this change, the dialog that appears and asks you to enable access to the browser data remains the same.

This is currently in the Canary version, and hopefully, Microsoft will fix all inconsistencies before we see these changes in the stable version of Edge.
