At the Microsoft Build 2024, the Redmond-based tech giant made the event all about AI, specifically, Copilot. We have theCopilot + PC devices; the company also announcedTeam Copilot, a new assistant in Microsoft Teams meant to tackle the rise of Google’s AI Teammate; then, the Redmond-based tech giant also releasednew tools to Copilot Studio.

However, you’ll be delighted to know that some of these topics will be known as Copilot Extensions, moving forwards. Remember when Microsoft announced Copilot Plugins? Well, they’re extensions now.

Copilot extensions will enhance Microsoft Copilot by enabling new actions and customized knowledge for grounding within Copilot. With Copilot extensions, users will get a Copilot experience that is tailored with the data, systems and workflows they use every day — all in the flow of their work.

If you’re a developer and you made Copilot plugins, Microsoft will add them as Copilot extensions in the Teams Toolkit for Visual Studio Code. You’ll also have access to new features, and you’ll be able to build Copilot extensions for others.

If you’re not a developer, then you can already access some Copilot extensions from companies such as Mural, or Jira.

Speaking of Copilot, the Redmond-based tech giant will also allow companies that use SharePoint to let their employees build their own extensions, using the company’s data. This way, productivity can be greatly enhanced.

These copilots help individuals find the files they need and can even answer questions based on the contents of the SharePoint site. Easy to create in just a few clicks, with additional enhancements available using Microsoft Copilot Studio, these copilots can be easily shared within an organization.

The Redmond-based tech giant released theEarly Access Programfor this feature, and it will launch a public preview of the new Copilot development sometime in 2024.
