Discord users, if you are downloading the app from the official website, please keep in mind. While Discord itself supports both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows versions, the website might be offering the 32-bit version by default. This can cause issues if you’re running a 64-bit system, which is most common on modern computers.

If you visit the Discord website and try to download the client for Windows, you’ll get the 32-bit version. You can check this by opening the Task Manager after installing Discord.

But, by now, most users will be using 64-bit Windows rather than 32-bit Windows. The 32-bit version of Discord won’t function optimally on a 64-bit Windows system. You might experience performance issues and instability, or the app might not work at all.

How to download the 64-bit version of Discord for Windows 10/11

First, ensure you are using a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows. To do this, right-click on ‘This PC’ and select ‘Properties’. Under ‘Device Specifications’, check the ‘System type’

Note: Windows 10 is the last version to support a 32-bit processor. Windows 11 does not support 32-bit systems.

After confirming that you have64-bit Windows, note that while the Discord website may default to the 32-bit version, it actually offers both versions. Here is the official link to download the64-bit version of Discordfor Windows 10/11.

If you have mistakenly downloaded the 32-bit version, you can simply uninstall it and then download and install the correct 64-bit version from the link provided above.

despite a fully functioning 64bit version existing and old windows versions being unsupported, discord STILL ships the client as 32bit by default for some reasonif you change the url to “=x64”, you can get the 64bit clientpic.twitter.com/CnPTJUC9XH
